The Portfolio Manager at ABN AMRO's Central Data Office is responsible for overseeing the bank's data strategy execution, including quality assurance, governance, and stakeholder management, while supporting Agile methodologies.

You help realise the delivery of the ABN AMRO strategy: a Personal Bank in a Digital Age. You ensure that the entire bank follows the correct route towards a fully data driven organisation. From shaping new concepts to designing and guiding data management initiatives. You can quickly submerge yourself in a brand-new initiative, shape, socialise and ensure it is properly anchored for successful execution.  

Your job

As our Portfolio Manager you are responsible for keeping a strong Oversight on the execution of the Data Strategy of ABN AMRO. This includes ensuring the quality of various aspects, such as the execution process, governance, KPIs and portfolio quality. You will also monitor the progress of Grid Owners and Product Owners in achieving the Grid and blocks’ objectives. Additionally, you prioritize effective stakeholder management within the scope of your work. 

Some examples of your responsibilities: 

  • Manage and optimize the data capability roadmap via set objectives and key results (OKR’s); 
  • Ensure adherence to organisational policies and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating risks; 
  • Conduct regular performance analysis of the portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary adjustments; 
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on portfolio performance, presenting findings to senior management and regulatory bodies as required; 
  • Actively participate in Agile meetings of the Grids to support them with Agile ways of working and ensure alignment with strategic objectives 
  • Serve as a Single Point of Contact for CDO in relation to Jira Align 
  • Investigate and ensure that DQ issues in the portfolio regarding open epics and episodes and other work items are resolved 
  • Coaching and advising on applying Agile Methodology and Ceremonies 
  • Serve as a sparring partner to PO’s, Grid Owners, and Senior Management

As our Portfolio manager you work together with other Portfolio and Performance managers in a small team within an open and transparent culture. The CDO department is diverse in culture, experiences, and age. The atmosphere is lively and informal, and the environment is safe. It is normal to make mistakes if everyone is honest about them and learns from them.

The Portfolio Management team is in constant collaboration with all business units, international branches, and subsidiaries of the bank. We all work together at the frontier of the largest data revolution in the banking industry and with the core value-assets of the organization. 

Your profile

  • >5years’ experience in portfolio management and execution tracking on strategic and tactical level (agile environments preferred) 
  • Experience with working in an Agile Development Environment (DevOps and Scaled Agile) and you know how to apply portfolio management and execution tracking standards to allow this type of development to happen 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels; 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions; 
  • In-dept knowledge of the Agile Methodology. Knowledge of Jira Align would be an advantage. 
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a bonus)  

We are offering

  • The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.
  • The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.
  • Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
  • Personal development Budget of € 1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to € 3,000.
  • Possibility to work from home (in consultation with your team and depending on your position).
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands.
  • An excellent pension scheme.
