Senior Data Engineer
You will automate our business processes by creating fully orchestrated data flows, taking care of the best possible data quality and providing valuable insights. You are able to identify data improvements and you know how security and compliancy are built in into our data platform.
You are a data wizard and you are able to represent NN Re towards both internal and external stakeholders, like other NN business units. You have in-depth knowledge of data analytics, data engineering and scripting, and applying these techniques in practice. You know which data solutions are available and widely used. Market developments have your specific interest and you know how to translate these into our environment. You drive data automation and data usage in the NN Re teams. You are able to create data driven reporting and to educate colleagues to make the best use of data.
Using your multi-year experience you will lead the team in developing engineering practices and the setup of pipelines and data containers.

- Translating IT business requirements into technical specification documents
- Analysing source data, understanding relationships, hierarchies, groups, trends etc
- Proposing solution’s architecture and selecting the right components
- Implementing, enhancing and optimizing ETL jobs and Data Models
- Build ADF pipelines and spark / python / yaml notebooks, use Databricks Unity Catalog
- Establishing engineering patterns
- Contribute to the overall development of the Data Analytics Platform of NN Group

Wat je meebrengt
- You have an university degree in software engineering, data science, computer science, math or equivalent
- You are a team player
- You have more than 5 years of practical experience in building data flows in Databricks, Azure Data Factory
- You have a minimum of 5 years working experience in data solutions, data engineering and creating notebooks using python or (py)spark
- You have strong analytical skills

As Senior Data Engineer you work in the IT team and report to the Head of IT.
The IT team consists of 9 professionals. They all have their own specific knowledge besides the basics. The atmosphere is informal, we love results and like teamwork. Every week we have Learn, Build and Share sessions. The IT team supports the Reinsurance Solutions, Hedging Solutions, Capital Management & Finance and Financial Risk Management departments of NN Re. You work closely together with our data analysts. By joining the overall NN data engineering guild you will keep in touch with your peers in other business units.
